Coldplay will be putting an end to writing new music as a band in 2025, the band's lead singer Chris Martin has announced.

Martin made this announcement during his interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 for a special show that will be aired Thursday night.

Whiley briefly spoke about her interview with Martin on Wednesday’s “The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show,” where she shared a preview clip where Martin could be heard saying that the band will stop releasing new music in 2025.

"Well I know I can tell you, our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that I think we will only tour,” he said as per ET. “Maybe we’ll do some collaborative things, but the Coldplay catalog, as it were, finishes then."

Martin previously revealed that the band had only planned to make 12 albums. “We’re going to make 12 albums. Because it’s a lot to pour everything into making them. I love it and it’s amazing, but it’s very intense too. I feel like because I know that challenge is finite, making this music doesn’t feel difficult, it feels like, ‘This is what we’re supposed to be doing’,” Martin told NME.

Coldplay released its debut album, “Parachutes,” in 2000 and the band is set to mark its 25th anniversary in 2025.

In its 21 years in the music industry, Coldplay has released nine studio albums with its latest, “Music Of The Spheres,” which includes the band's most successful collaboration to date, “My Universe” with BTS.

The band's performance of “My Universe” was one of the highlights at the recent 2021 American Music Awards. Coldplay also made a surprise appearance on the fourth day of the “BTS Permission To Dance – L.A.” where the band sang the track with the global sensation in front of thousands of screaming fans at SoFi stadium.

The collaborators once again took the stage in the final episode of “The Voice” Season 21 where the famous K-pop group appeared in holograms and jammed alongside Chris Martin in front of a live audience.

"Chris Martin from Coldplay sang Jungkook's part in Korean. He loves his part. Their voices blend so well together & sound top-notch," a fan wrote in a tweet showing Martin's attempt in singing the Korean interlude in the song.

Next year, Coldplay will begin its “Music Of The Spheres World Tour.” The last time the band was on concert tour was in 2016 and 2017 for “A Head Full of Dreams Tour.”
