CD Proyekt RED has confirmed that “Cyberpunk 2077” won’t have mod support at launch. The feature would come in later since the developers are more focused on finishing the whole game development first. Here’s what we know about this.

According to CD Projekt RED Marcin Momot’s post on the studio’s official forums, they can’t reveal much about the game as of now but they can confirm that modding is not their priority at this point. CD Projekt RED is focused on releasing the game first, but Momot hopes to bring support for the modding community soon.

In the past, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” modding capabilities arrived late, as pointed out by PC Gamer. While mod support wasn’t possible upon release, the mods that fans made for the game further improved the game not only in terms of custom content, but also in graphics and aesthetics.

Like other open world games, modding in “Cyberpunk 2077” is expected. Many players find their enjoyment in games like this by heavily changing the game’s contents. Most mods often come in new weapons, equipment and new races.

Sometimes, mods can even get weird as players add items that are not normally found in the game, such as the case with the modern gun mods that were added to Bethesda's “Skyrim,” a game set in high fantasy. However, some mods fully overhaul games into different ones and use the base games only as a game engine. “Cyberpunk 2077” has this potential, too, once the mods are pushed out.

For now, we’ve yet to know the exact release date of “Cyberpunk 2077” but developers have confirmed that it’ll be done by 2021. Moreover, CD Projekt Red is one of the major exhibitors in the upcoming E3 2019 this June and “Cyberpunk 2077” is likely to have its own big event.

While “Cyberpunk 2077’s” presence is big, the developers won’t have a public demo at the event. However, Gamespot said that there will be a new gameplay trailer to be revealed at the gathering. For now, we’ll have to see what’s going to be officially confirmed about this game next month.
