Daniel Craig is all set to bid goodbye to the “James Bond” franchise with “No Time To Die," which is just weeks away from its U.S. release. Ever since Craig announced his exit, rumors of his successor being a woman have been doing the rounds. Amid the hearsay, Craig said he does not want any woman to play Bond.

It looks likes Craig wants to keep it an exclusive boys club, but this is not the case. Instead, he wants women to have the opportunity to create their own unique cultural icons.

The 53-year-old actor appeared for an interview on “Radio Times” Tuesday where he was asked about his thoughts on a possible female Bond, to which he said “The answer to that is very simple. There should simply be better parts for women and actors of color.”

“Why should a woman play James Bond when there should be a part just as good as James Bond, but for a woman?” he continued.

The franchise producer Barbara Brocoli also appears to share similar thoughts about equal action roles for original female characters.

“He’s a male character. He was written as a male and I think he’ll probably stay as a male, and that’s fine. We don’t have to turn male characters into women. Let’s just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters,” the producer previously told “The Guardian.”

With that, the possibility of Lashana Lynch whose character will be introduced in “No Time To Die” being the next Bond is out the window.

Lynch will be playing Nomi, another MI6 agent who is also a 007. Though the “Captain Marvel” star has repeatedly denied taking over Craig’s character, it's been long speculated that she could be the next James Bond.

Talking about her casting Lynch told "The Guardian" earlier this month, “I think they were just looking for someone who would be able to be a match for Bond, who would be able to stand up and be vocal and forthright and strong and able to handle a weapon, able to handle herself and not someone who takes any crap from anybody at all. Then, as it unfolded, she became this quite complicated, free, open-minded vocal human being who brings a really nice twist to MI6.”

This still leaves us with that big question -- Who will be the next James Bond? Only time will tell.
