They have been handed more challenges to their romance than any new couple would ever want to face, but unfortunately, things aren’t going to be any easier for Ben and Ciara on the Wednesday, March 20 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

Ciara (Victoria Konefal) has been determined to prove to Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) that they can be together, especially since he rescued her from the cabin after Jordan (Chrishell Stause) tried to kill her and finally earned Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) trust. However, he became scared on the NBC soap that he was too much like his destructive family and would be a danger to her, ending their romance. He went on to work for Stefan (Tyler Christopher) again, which Ciara went to confront him about before he revealed that it was in a capacity where his only job is to protect Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin). The two finally gave in to their feelings again were engaged in a serious make-out session—when gunshots were fired at the mansion.

Now, it appears the situation will only further prove the point Ben was trying to make, and yet again, the pair will be no more than star-crossed lovers.

“Ben and Ciara find themselves in a dangerous situation when gunshots are fired at the DiMera Mansion,” spoilers reveal.

While the gunshots that were fired in their direction weren’t actually intended for them, it will be enough for Ben to determine yet again that he is too dangerous for Ciara to be around, and once again, their plans for a life together will be thwarted.

Ciara may be able to realize the gunshots were meant for Chloe, and their similar looks could have made the men trying to kill her mix the women up, but it won’t be enough to convince Ben that she should risk her life by being with him.

The couple will once again find themselves separated—and a future may still be nowhere in sight for them.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
