Tripp, Kayla and Steve on "Days Of Our Lives"
Tripp (Lucas Adams) officially turned on Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) on “Days of Our Lives” this week. NBC

He was misled to believe Kayla was the one who ended his own mother’s life, and now, after once again deciding she needs to pay for the crime, Tripp will finally confront her on the Friday, Aug. 4 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

After Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) found him and brought him to Salem, Tripp (Lucas Adams) learned that his biological mother, Ava, was murdered last year on the NBC soap. He has refused to believe she was as evil and vindictive as Steve, Kayla and Joey (James Lastovic) have sworn she was, and has since wanted revenge for her murder. Thanks to Jade (Gabrielle Haugh), who wanted her own vengeance on Kayla after she cut her off financially, he was led to believe that the doctor was the one who killed his mother.

Tripp then executed a secret plan for payback by shadowing Kayla at the hospital and secretly adjusting medication doses on her tablet, making her seem as though she had overdosed several patients, and after another patient’s death, his plan seemed to work, as she was suspended from the hospital because of it. However, after a few days, her suspension was cleared when the patient who died was revealed to have passed from natural causes and not from having too much medication, and she has since returned to work.

Tripp has once again become furious, because while he had begun to feel guilty about setting Kayla up while she was suspended, he still felt that she had gotten what she deserved. Knowing now that she is once again not being punished has pushed him to a dangerous place, and the encouragement he received from his mother’s family to get a kind of revenge that is genuinely even isn’t helping.

Now, Tripp has found Kayla at the hospital, and though he initially ruled out violence, he may feel compelled to take action against her, because he has become truly desperate when it comes to revenge.

However, his plan may not pan out as he hopes, because Steve had been investigating to see who may have set Kayla up and has since realized it was Tripp, though he wasn’t entirely sure why. Now, as he talks to Joey about the situation, it may dawn on both of them that Tripp’s behavior stems from his hurt over his mother’s death, and that he may believe Kayla was the one who committed the crime.

After realizing this, Steve and Joey will bolt towards the hospital, where they may find Tripp and Kayla together. While they may stop Tripp from doing something violent, he will still be too far over the edge, and may instead grab Kayla and hold her hostage, threatening to kill her. Knowing that her life is on the line, Steve and Joey may decide it is finally time to come clean to Tripp about who really ended Ava’s life, even though it will still likely hurt their family relationship.

In a desperate attempt to save his mother and to assuage his guilt, Joey may finally tell his brother that he was the one who killed Ava, by smothering her with a pillow. When he learns the truth, Tripp may be stunned, but as he holds Kayla, he could also realize that the perfect revenge on his half-brother is to give him the same sense of loss he has felt, and Kayla could still be in danger as a result.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
