A man was found dead after he stabbed several people during a psychotic episode in Dover, Delaware, on Wednesday (June 10).

Deputies responded to a home on Bradley Road on Wednesday night after a 66-year-old woman reported that she had been stabbed. When the officers were tending to the elderly woman’s wounds, the 29-year-old unidentified attacker called the police and informed that there were multiple stabbing victims at a home on Kennedy Road.

The officers rushed to the home and found a 73-year-old woman, a 37-year-old woman, and an 11-year-old boy with stab wounds. They also found the attacker dead inside the home.

Investigation revealed that the 29-year-old had been suffering from "increasingly severe symptoms of mental illness," including auditory delusions. He was inside his home on Bradley Road when he experienced a severe psychotic episode. Despite his family’s best efforts to keep him at home, the man managed to escape after biting his family members.

He then ran to a neighboring home from where he stole a “large” kitchen knife. He ran to another home and knocked on the door. The 66-year-old woman answered. He stabbed the elderly woman before running to the house on Kennedy Road where he stabbed the 73-year-old woman twice in the head before attacking the 11-year-old boy and the 37-year-old woman. The man then died inside that home; however, the manner of death was not known.

All the victims were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The attacker’s body was sent for an autopsy to find out the exact cause of death. Investigation into the case was ongoing.

The incident comes months after a woman in Fairview Heights, Illinois, stabbed her daughter and their family dog in a “mental health crisis.” Deputies responding to a call found 52-year-old Brittany Drive chasing her 20-year-old daughter down the street with a knife. The officers took the woman into custody and were told that she was suffering from a “mental health crisis” as she had not taken the medicines prescribed to her. The officers then found the family’s dog with a stab wound.
