Demi Lovato recently discussed her take on trans rights and racism via Instagram.

As part of an Instagram Tour to promote her friend's new book “Beyond the GenderBinary,” the 27-year-old songstress chatted with Alok Vaid-Menon, gender-fluid artist and author who has penned a book on helping young trans and non-binary individuals. In the video, Lovato shared her views on the extensiveness of the human race and the many differences it entails.

"There's so many differences in the human race, why are we given only two options?" Lovato questioned before switching the conversation to topics on race.

“I’m Hispanic, but I’m white-passing, so I’m like… what is my responsibility as an ally?” she added.

The pop star also expressed how she learned to put her fears aside and “speak up for all of the people of color,” as well as those who are oppressed. Lovato addressed that it is time for people to educate themselves about the different sections of society and highlighted its very diverse spectrum.

“I need to put my fears aside," the “I’m Ready” singer confessed. "I just didn’t want anyone to question my intentions because I am white-passing. I'm going to educate myself and I'm gonna be an ally, and I think people need to do the same with the trans community."

Meanwhile, the singer was also open about her views on sexuality, revealing that society is still chained by sex-based fear. Lovato spoke about the toxic perspective of the patriarchal society towards homosexuals and said that men have been taught an erroneous version of masculinity.

During the discussion, Lovato asserted that “homosexual men are afraid to be allies to trans people and queer people because of toxic masculinity.” She then went on to state how men ought to educate themselves and shy away from further misconstruing.

The songstress also urged men to support the undermined sector of the communities regardless of their own gender and sexual preference.

More on her viewpoint regarding the sexual and gender fluidity, Lovato advocated the trans community in a separate Instagram post while promoting Vaid-Menon’s "Beyond the GenderBinary" book.

"Trans rights are human rights!" she wrote, adding that the book "is a great resource to learn more about how to support trans and gender non-conforming people.”

According to the singer, the book will definitely be a “life-saving resource” that can eventually change people’s notions and how they react towards gender.

"We all deserve to live in a world that celebrates our creativity over our conformity!" Lovato expressed.
