KEY POINTS

  • The Devil's Lair is an easy Nightfall that doesn't require as much effort to complete
  • Bringing bows or sniper rifles can make the outdoor encounter easier
  • The Riskrunner is particularly effective in this Nightfall strike

The Devil’s Lair strike is back in the weekly Nighftall rotation in “Destiny 2,” giving players a relatively easy mission to grind through. There aren’t many complicated mechanics or encounters in this strike, making this an excellent activity to grind for upgrade materials, exotics and Nightfall-exclusive weapons.

Much like the Lake of Shadows strike, the Devil’s Lair can be easily completed without much effort so long as players are equipped with the right weapons or mod setups. Here’s a quick guide on how to make this strike as easy as it can possibly be, even in the hardest of difficulties.

Recommended Weapons And Loadouts

Apart from a couple dozen Hive at the beginning of the strike, the Devil’s Lair mostly features Fallen combatants with Arc shields. Players are advised to bring Void, Arc and Solar weapons for difficulties that have the Match Game modifier on.

The Riskrunner SMG is amazing in this strike because of the sheer amount of Fallen present in every encounter. Since these enemies deal mostly Arc damage, Riskrunner’s Arc Conductor perk will almost always be active, granting players near-infinite ammo and a powerful chain lightning effect that can quickly wipe a room.

Alternatively, the Trinity Ghoul bow can accomplish the same room-clearing role of the Risk Runner. It deals greater burst damage and it can stun the many Overload champions present in the strike.

Warlocks with Phoenix Protocol are immensely useful in the Devil’s Lair. The exotic chestpiece will allow Warlocks to use their Well of Radiance at least two times per encounter, greatly increasing the team’s survivability. For other classes, a Titan with Phoenix Cradle and Jotunn can offer excellent team-wide buffs while a Stasis Hunter can provide some much-needed crowd control.

Encounter Tips

Players will have to deal with tons of Fallen Web Mines that drop from defeated enemies. It’s best to pick a good spot to hole-up in and refrain from running around arenas to prevent unnecessary deaths caused by mines.

This is especially useful in the final boss area. In between the boss’ invulnerability phases, enemies will spawn from each of the side doors found at the end of the walkways on each side. Try to funnel these enemies into one spot then let a teammate with a Riskrunner or Trinity Ghoul wipe them out while the others focus on the Servitors protecting the boss.
