KEY POINTS

  • Nightfall strikes are more difficult versions of the standard missions in the Strikes Playlist
  • Players can select what difficulty they want when playing Nightfall strikes
  • Harder Nightfalls reward better loot to players

Nightfall strikes are more difficult versions of the normal missions in the Vanguard playlist that have better rewards, including higher chances for exotic engram drops and unique Nightfall-exclusive weapons.

Apart from the preset enemy power levels of each difficulty tier in Nightfall missions, players will also have to deal with a number of modifiers, including champion spawns that increase in number depending on mission difficulty. These modifiers will require players to carefully plan out a strategy before they can even hope of finishing a run with over 100K points.

Naturally, the more difficult Nightfall strike missions will be more challenging to overcome. For those who are struggling to get those 6-digit scores, here are some tips on how to clear difficult Nightfall strikes in “Destiny 2.”

Know Each Mission

Much of the difficulty of Nightfall strikes come from the missions themselves, particularly with regard to certain segments or boss fights. Players will need to have specific strategies for these segments, so they don’t get wiped out immediately.

One good example of this is the starting portion of the Exodus Crash strike. In this area, Fallen Pike Riders can easily kill the entire fireteam if left unattended, which makes dashing through the road extremely dangerous.

Loadout Coordination And Synergy

Using the most overpowered weapon isn’t always the best course of action when it comes to Nightfall strikes. Players must adjust their loadouts according to champion spawns and enemy shield types to optimize clear speeds.

Communicate with team members and ask them what energy weapon element or subclass they want to use in order to prevent overlapping elements. It’s best to have one of each elemental energy damage type, or whichever damage type suits a certain strike the most.

Mod synergy between players should also be discussed before starting a mission. Seasonal mods like Particle Deconstructor do not stack, so it’s best to have only one player with this mod equipped.

Fireteam Role Assignment

Every fireteam member should ideally have a certain role to fulfill outside of their class’ designated jobs. Having someone who can reliably generate Orbs of Power or produce Special/Heavy ammo can do wonders for those difficult Nightfall strikes.
