James Franco as Frankie
Vincent (James Franco) gets an unexpected question from Abby’s (Margarita Levieva) dad in Season 1, episode 7 of “The Deuce.” Paul Schiraldi

Vincent meets Abby’s family in this week’s episode of “The Deuce.”

According to the synopsis for Season 1, episode 7 of the HBO series, Abby (Margarita Levieva) asks Vincent (James Franco) to be her escort at her family’s lavish party.

In the trailer for the episode, Abby introduces Vincent and her father to each other. But when Abby mingles with the other guests at the soirée, her father gets an opportunity to ask Vincent a very blatant question: “Did you hire her to sleep with her?”

While Vincent is clearly caught off guard by the query, it remains to be seen how exactly the barman will respond to it.

Meanwhile, C.C. (Gary Carr), Larry (Gbenga Akinnagbe), Rodney (Cliff Smith/Method Man) and the other pimps worry about becoming obsolete with the police pushing their business off the streets.

“Now you’re just droppin’ the girls off in one of the parlors and killing time. We became extraneous in this situation,” C.C. tells his fellow pimps.

While the police crackdown prevents his ladies from working on the streets at night, C.C. continues to earn some money by letting one of her sex workers, Lori (Emily Meade), star in pornographic films. However, it doesn’t seem like Lori will be staying in the business for long, as the synopsis for the episode reveals that Lori starts to struggle with the demands of porn acting.

As also seen in the trailer, C.C’s other sex worker, Ashley (Jamie Neumann), has become even more jealous of Lori since she started doing movies.

“Why I gotta clock and she (Lori) don’t?” Ashley asks C.C.

“She doin’ the movies,” C.C. replies.

Sick of C.C.’s partiality, Ashley finds herself hanging out with Frankie (also played by Franco) but, later, washes up on Abby’s door.

Elsewhere in the episode, NYPD’s 14th Precinct gets a new captain in Peter McDonagh (Ed Moran). In the trailer, Captain McDonagh asks Alston (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) to give him a tour of the precinct. When Alston asks McDonagh why he chose him to give the tour, the new captain says, “You are probably on the outside enough to be trusted. I want the truth.”

Also in the episode, Candy (Maggie Gyllenhaal) eyes a different job on Harvey’s (David Krumholtz) set; Bobby (Chris Bauer) becomes smitten with an employee; and Frankie is tasked by Rudy (Michael Rispoli) to turn his peep-show concept into reality.

“The Deuce” Season 1, episode 7, titled “Au Reservoir,” airs on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO. Watch the trailer for the episode below:
