Now that “Game of Thrones” is officially over and fans have had time to digest what exactly happened during that final episode—did the series ever answer some of fans biggest questions, and did any big theories fans had put out there over the years come true?

While there were definitely some things that may not have felt as though they were properly given the right ending in a season where many seemed to take issue with the writing, the HBO series did somewhat manage to address some favorite theories—even if they didn’t execute them properly.

So which theories actually came true and which ones didn’t? Take a look at the list below.

Jon Takes The Iron Throne

  • Did It Happen? No
  • What Really Happened: Technically, no one got the Iron Throne, since Drogon melted it to the ground after Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) was killed.

Cleganebowl Happens

GOT THEORIES-CLEGANEBOWL
Fans did get to see Sandor “The Hound” Clegane (Rory McCann) face off with his brother for the last time on “Game of Thrones.” Helen Sloan/HBO
  • Did It Happen? Yes
  • How It Happened: While fans likely would have preferred a more satisfying reason for the epic final showdown between Sandor (Rory McCann) and Gregor (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), it did finally happen during “The Bells.” After arriving in King’s Landing with the sole purpose of killing his brother, The Hound eventually learned his already quasi-undead brother wasn’t really killable—until he decided to face his fear of fire by plunging both of them to a fiery death caused by Daenerys.

Bran Is Revealed To Really Be The Night King

  • Did It Happen? No
  • What Really Happened: While many believed Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) would be revealed to have actually been the Night King the entire time, he was actually the intended target and basically the reason he came to Westeros at all—and that didn’t end so well for him. Of course, Bran was eventually revealed to be a king of a different sort...though fans weren’t necessarily pleased by that.

Azor Ahai/The Prince Who Was Promised Takes The Throne

GOT THEORIES-AZOR AHAI/PRINCE WHO WAS PROMISED
Jon Snow (Kit Harington) didn’t take the Iron Throne, but he did kill Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) on “Game of Thrones” Helen Sloan/HBO
  • Did It Happen? Kind Of...But No
  • What Really Happened: While a small piece of the theory about the Prince Who Was Promised did play out on screen, in the end, that wasn’t the person who became the new King. After the remaining lords and ladies of Westeros had their say, Bran became the King of the Six Kingdoms after Sansa (Sophie Turner) declared the North’s independence and became the Queen of that particular Kingdom. While neither the Prince/Princess who was promised got to rule, the part of the theory where fans believed that the Prince would have to reenact Azor Ahai’s killing of his beloved Nissa Nissa sort of did. While it didn’t do anything for him personally, Jon (Kit Harington) was the one to plunge a sword through Daenerys’ heart in the end, killing the woman he loved.

Daenerys Becomes Pregnant

  • Did It Happen? Nope
  • What Really Happened: Apparently all that discussion about her line of succession before she and Jon wound up having sex in Season 7 had nothing to do with hinting at a potential Boatsex Baby. Dany never once seemed to surprisingly end up pregnant, meaning her dragons really were her only children.

Tyrion Is Revealed To Also Be A Targaryen

  • Did It Happen? No
  • What Really Happened: He was always a Lannister, no matter how his family felt about it. Now, he’s the last Lannister.

Arya Kills Cersei And Jaime

  • Did It Happen? No
  • What Really Happened: The theory was that Arya (Maisie Williams) would successfully kill Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and use her training as a Faceless Man to wear his face, get close to Cersei (Lena Headey) and finally cross off the final name on her list. Instead, she got to kill the Night King (Vladimir Furdik) and a whole lot of rubble got to do in both Cersei and her brother/lover.

Sam Narrated The Entire Story

  • Did It Happen? Sort Of
  • How It Happened: While Sam (John Bradley) wasn’t the official narrator who wrote down the entire story, he did help Archmaester Ebrose come up with his catchier title of the histories of the Seven Kingdoms after Robert’s Rebellion. So he had a role in it....he just didn’t actually write the whole thing.

Cersei Is Killed By The Valonquar

GO THEORIES-VALONQUAR
Cersei’s (Lena Headey) death prophecy was not fulfilled on “Game of Thrones.” Helen Sloan/HBO
  • Did It Happen? Not Even A Little Bit
  • What Really Happened: Unless someone wants to stretch it really far and blame Cersei’s death on Tyrion because she and Jaime were only underneath the Red Keep because of his plan to help them escape King’s Landing, that part of her life prophecy being left out of the show was done for good reason. The series never intended to address that part of her story.

Tyrion Betrays Daenerys

  • Did It Happen? Yes
  • How It Happened: Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) wound up betraying Daenerys twice. First, he disobeyed her orders by letting Jaime free...even though he wound up dead anyway. He then betrayed her again by denouncing himself as hand and kind of being the one to convince Jon to kill her before she could kill millions more.
