“Doctor Strange 2” is going to introduce the fans to the multiverse in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is an opportunity to have many fun cameo characters, and according to a new theory, one of these characters can be Mysterio as a regular superhero.

The MCU version of Mysterio was played by Jake Gyllenhall, and the character was a fraud who took the help of a team of scientists to act like a superhero. According to a theory by CBR, the character may return in the upcoming film and this time he may be shown as a regular superhero.

The multiverse is filled with different versions of the same characters, which means there could be someone who could be a villain in one universe and a hero in another. According to the theory, the actor who is a good fit to play another version of Mysterio is Bruce Campbell.

The upcoming film is the start of a new phase of Marvel movies, and that means there is scope for fun and humor. Campbell was previously rumored to be in the race to play Mysterio for “Spider-Man” movies, which didn’t materialize, but he may get his chance now.

It remains to be seen what fun elements have been planned for “Doctor Strange 2.” According to Screen Rant, the fans should be thrilled to see characters like Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire), Old Man Logan (Hugh Jackson), and Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds).

The film could also setup Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as the future leader of the new Avengers team. According to Screen Rant, there have been moments in the past that prove he can be a capable leader. The superhero giving up the time stone and getting all the heroes together to fight Thanos (Josh Brolin) prove that he is a capable leader.

“Doctor Strange 2” will be released on May 7, 2021.
