  • The film may introduce Clea

Benedict Cumberbatch’s character may get a love interest in “Doctor Strange 2.” According to new casting details that have surfaced online, the producers are looking for an actress to play the role of a character named Clea.

According to The Illuminerdi, Marvel is looking for an actress in her late 20s and early 40s to play the role of a “leading lady” in the upcoming film. The report notes that this may be a reference to Clea, who plays an important role in the life of Doctor Strange in the comics.

Clea is related to Dormammu and the Dark Dimension. Many comic books fans were surprised she didn’t appear in the first solo movie of the superhero, especially since he was visiting the Dark Dimension. That may now change in the sequel, but it remains to be seen in which world Clea will be seen.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has recognized the importance of Clea and has spoken about wanting to introduce her. He previously spoke about “Doctor Strange 2” and his excitement for introducing a new character, which may be a hint about Clea.

There will be multiple new characters who will be introduced in the sequel. While this will be exciting for comic book fans who are familiar with all the superheroes and villains, the risk for the movie is that it will have too many characters, Screen Rant reported. Adding too many characters will mean that the film will not be able to deliver strong characters arcs for each one and it will also affect the narrative.

As far as the plot of concerned, there are many storylines the film can explore, Screen Rant reported. The story can be about stopping Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), escaping the Dream Dimension, or mentoring Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

“Doctor Strange 2” will be released on May 7, 2021.
