In a horrific incident, two toddler girls in England were viciously attacked by a dog on a street in broad daylight.

The mauling, which took place in Birmingham, was caught on a nearby CCTV camera. The distressing video allegedly shows the girls screaming as the dog charges at them, Yahoo News Australia reported.

The girls, aged 2 and 3, were accompanied by an adult when the attack took place. One of the girls is seen being knocked over as the dog attacks her. The unidentified adult tried to stop the dog, but failed, according to Wales Online. The other child was watching on as the dog bit the girl.

After attacking the first girl, the dog charged at the second who was standing nearby.

A BMW car stopped by as the attack continued. Three bystanders attempted to intervene and this was when the dog’s attention diverted to someplace else. Someone then picked up one of the girls and tried to kick the dog away.

“Everybody, get inside,” an unidentified woman yells, Yahoo News Australia reported. The girls were taken away in the BMW.

Local media reports said the two toddlers were rushed to a hospital. The 3-year-old had injuries on her arm and leg, while the other girl had leg injuries and scratches.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson reportedly said the canine, which seems to be a “guard dog,” might have escaped a nearby business.

“The dog has been seized by police and inquiries are ongoing,” the spokesperson said, Wales Online reported.

In another dog attack incident in India earlier this month, a pack of stray canines mauled a 9-year-old boy to death while he was playing with his friends. At least four dogs were involved in the incident. The child was with two other friends when the attack took place.

"While the rest of the children managed to escape from the spot, Ayaan could not. The dogs chased him around for a while before attacking him. The boy was injured and died on the spot," Narsimha Rao, a police officer, told local media at the time. A case of suspicious death (under Section 174 CrPC) was registered after the victim's father filed a complaint with police, local news channel NDTV reported.
