“Dancing With The Stars” ballroom pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy shared updates with his followers on Instagram and said he is attempting to leave Ukraine amid Russia’s attack on his homeland.

“There’s a lot of fighting everywhere,” Chmerkovskiy said in a clip posted Monday, addressing his 1.1 million followers on the social networking platform. “Streets are crazy. At one point I got arrested… but all good, promise. That was probably the least traumatizing moment in this whole thing as far as Ukraine is concerned, but for me it was just a reality check… a crazy reality check.”

The 42-year Latin ballroom dance champion said he is now trying to make his way out of Ukraine and is heading towards the border. He said his options are "better than most people's" but he is still nervous about it.

"I think it’s going to be alright," he said, before correcting himself. "I know it’s going to be OK."

The DWTS alum also asked his followers not to panic if he is not sharing updates, adding that he is in touch with his wife, his parents and his brother, and assured that he will try to keep them updated whenever possible.

Chmerkovskiy also posted to his Instagram story and said, "I’m really not good right this moment. I see videos of people who’s [sic] legs were torn off minutes ago from the shelling that is going on in Kharkov RIGHT NOW. I won’t post that stuff but I see all of them and it’s extremely disturbing. INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE BEING KILLED!!!! Pray the meeting going on right now will make a difference and CONTINUE TO SCREAM ABOUT THIS F**KING GENOCIDE AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS!!!! It’s working and the entire planet is finally geting [sic] United about something!!!! F**K IT SHOW IT TO THE RUSSIANS."

Later, the dance trainer posted another update to his Instagram story and wrote, "We’re heading to Warsaw (hopefully). Train to Lviv was not an option. The situation at the train station is insane. At first it feels manageable, but it gets A LOT worse when it comes time to actually board the train," he shared.

Earlier, a representative of Chmerkovskiy said he is in Ukraine filming the reality competition series, "World of Dance UA."
