  • Techland has released a dev update for "Dying Light 2"
  • The developers read messages from toxic fans and assured everyone that development is going smoothly
  • The game is set to release this year

It has been a long time since “Dying Light 2” was announced, and many fans believed that the project was dead in the water. The game has received very little news since the announcement apart from the fact that it was getting delayed.

However, “Dying Light” developer Techland recently broke its silence in the best way possible: reading mean comments about the game’s development cycle.

Techland uploaded a short video in the official “Dying Light” YouTube channel where key members of the team read some offensive and profanity-imbued messages regarding “Dying Light 2” from disgruntled fans.

After the short reading segment, the developers relayed their actual message to their loyal community. Techland assured that the game is still in development, but it is taking more time than usual due to the project’s sheer size and complexity.

The developers stated that they are pouring their hearts into the project in order to release a product that can surpass the fans’ expectations while also meeting their standard of quality.

“Dying Light 2” is a much larger and more ambitious game than its predecessor. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where bands of survivors are trying to re-establish some manner of civilization on a planet ravaged by a devastating zombie outbreak. “Dying Light 2” will have multiple factions that players can help or sabotage, drastically impacting the game world in terms of how events unfold and how settlements are developed.

This is a stark departure from the first game’s relatively linear style of storytelling. Instead of following one main story path with multiple optional side quests, “Dying Light 2” will have players face situations that have different outcomes depending on the choices they make. These decisions will have lasting repercussions on the game world and ultimately affect how it ends.

The scope of “Dying Light 2” appears to be too much for Techland as the development of the game has reportedly been tumultuous. However, their recent update video has shone a ray of hope for fans who are eagerly waiting for the sequel to the massively successful first game.

“Dying Light 2” is slated to release sometime this year.
