SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has made a name for himself over the years not only due to his impressive achievements, but also his unexpected business ideas. After tweeting that he would create Tesla short shorts, the 49-year-old has seemingly followed through with creating a new streetwear line.

According to TMZ, Musk committed to creating the unusual pieces after Tesla's Q2 profit figures outperformed the projected expectations set by Wall Street. After the stock's price soared, Musk tweeted that the car company would "make fabulous short shorts in radiant red satin with gold trim," as seen in the tweet below.

He then continued with the conversation surrounding the shorts and said that he would send some to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which he called the "Shortseller Enrichment Commission," to "comfort them through these difficult times."

According to CNBC, the tweet followed an agreement that he reached with the agency in 2018 surrounding fraud charges in connection to a tweet about taking his company private.

However, as stated by TMZ, some believe the advertisement of the red satin Tesla shorts could, in actuality, just be "a huge PR stunt." If it did turn out that Musk had been joking, it would follow a series of additional tweets and a seemingly-believable listing on the official Tesla site that indicated that they had actually been made.

"Celebrate summer with Tesla Short Shorts. Run like the wind or entertain like Liberace with our red satin and gold trim design. Relax poolside or lounge indoors year-round with our limited-edition Tesla Short Shorts, featuring our signature Tesla logo in front with “S3XY” across the back. Enjoy exceptional comfort from the closing bell," reads the product page.

It also states that the articles of clothing, which supposedly retailed for $69.420, will be mailed to customers within 2-4 weeks.

Aside from the unclear future for the Tesla shorts that read "S3XY" on the back, the entrepreneur has also remained in the news in recent months due to the unusual name that he choose for his newborn son with singer Grimes, which was recently finalized after facing a legal hurdle.
