Evelyn Lozada turned 37 on Monday, and she and her ex-husband, Chad Johnson, exchanged love messages on Twitter.

Johnson wrote in Spanish, saying, “Feliz cumpleanos, amor. Espero el dia que pueda abrazarte de nuevo. Que Dios este contigo, espero que tengas seguro,” which translates to "Happy birthday, love. I wait for the day I can hold you again. May God be with you, hope you have been safe."

Lozada then wrote, “Gracias por mi deseo de cumpleanos. Te extrano tanto,” which means “Thank you for my birthday wish. I miss you so much."”. Later she wrote , “Una pieza que falta,” or “A missing piece,” to which

Johnson replied, “Yo soy la pieza que falta,” or “I am the piece that’s missing.”

Johnson and Lozada married in July; she filed for divorce in August after she and Johnson argued over a receipt for condoms found in the trunk of their car. According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Johnson grabbed Lozada, head-butted her, and screamed at her: "I don't give a [expletive]! I don't give a [expletive] about my career!" Lozada then "fled on foot to a neighbor's house to get away from Johnson."

The head-butt caused Lozada to need stitches on her forehead. "I had blood in my eyes, I was tasting it," the reality star told People magazine. But apparently, this is not the first time Johnson has abused Lozada.

"Chad has been abusive toward Evelyn basically from the beginning of their relationship," a source close to the couple told Radar Online. "[The] marriage was volatile in nature and a mistake from the start."

"All I can say is, 'I'm sorry. I'm human," Johnson said on the season finale of the HBO show "Hard Knocks."

"How did I even get to this point?" he went on to say. "Somewhere along the way I lost focus. I lost something that I love. I lost two things I love because of my immature actions. I'm going to get both of those things back, one step at a time."
