  • Twitter users are divided between Shakira and Khalifa amid their recent controversy

Shakira's fans slammed Mia Khalifa who called the singer out for remaining silent about the Beirut explosion a few weeks ago after the "Hips Don't Lie" hitmaker announced her effort to help Lebanon.

In a post on Twitter, Shakira announced that she is supporting the people of Beirut by partnering with Zuhair Murad. All the proceeds from the designers latest "Rise from the Ashes" shirts will go to the Lebanese Red Cross and Offrejoie.

Shakira's fans flooded her post with positive responses. Many thanked and praised her for her effort in helping Lebanon.

"This is a great support for the Beirut people. We are all human beings and we have to help each other in difficult times. I am always proud of you when it comes to helping people through difficult times. You and your heart are wonderful!" one fan wrote.

"Love you Queen," user Hector commented.

"You are the best human being I know," another wrote with a heart emoji.

Meanwhile, many of her fans called out the ex-porn star who previously slammed Shakira for not doing her part in helping Beirut. Khalifa accusued Shakira of remaining silent about the issue, so the singer's fans took a jab at the former adult entertainer.

"U hear that @miakhalifa, u can stop talking sh-- now," one commented.

"That irrelevant h*e keeps getting clout cause of y'alls deluded minds, Shakira is coming and she's unbothered," another added.

Another netizen also called out Khalifa for criticizing Shakira's effort in her Instagram Story.

"B----. SUPPORT. IS. SUPPORT. AT LEAST SHAKIRA USED HER PLATFORM TO SAY SOMETHING. SHUT THE ACTUAL [EXPLICIT] UP NOW," the netizen wrote.

Despite the backlash, several also defended Khalifa because they recognized her efforts in helping Beirut immediately after the explosion.

"The world is literally burning rn and theres really people out there who have nothing better to do than to defend Shakira," one wrote.

"Shakira can make money off of being half Lebanese (her hips don’t lie when she’s belly dancing), yet it took her over 3 weeks to say something about the Beirut explosion. Meanwhile Mia Khalifa raised at least $200K for relief," Jamie commented.

The attacks toward Khalifa stemmed from her Instagram Stories post where she took a dig at the “Whenever, Wherever” songstress for not matching her efforts in helping Beirut despite being half-Lebanese.

“[You] have remained silent this entire time they’ve needed your world influence most?” Khalifa wrote on a screenshot of Shakira’s Instagram page. “Not even your money, just your voice to raise awareness and help people understand the gravity of this tragedy.”
