The latest update for “Fallout 76” is bringing back a crucial element dating back to the original game from 1997. The techno-religious military order known as “the Brotherhood of Steel” is arriving in West Virginia.

The faction debuted in the original “Fallout” video game from 1997 and is made up of the remnants of the U.S. military from before the Great War in “Fallout” lore. Originating in what remains of California, the Brotherhood of Steel” has appeared in some form or another in every “Fallout” game so far, notes ScreenRant.

With their signature power armor suits that often adorn the box art for “Fallout” video games, it’s easy to recognize members of the Brotherhood of Steel. Those armor suits are also considered a vital upgrade in each game, including “Fallout 76,” where the faction doesn't show up until late in the story.

In June’s “Legendary Run” update for “Fallout 76,” Russell Dorsey arrived in Appalachia. Since he was interested in the remnants of the chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel, Dorsey alerted the player that reinforcements from the group were on their way from the Lost Hills.

Bethesda Softworks revealed in their August 4 patch notes for “Fallout 76” that players will take the next steps toward inviting the Brotherhood of Steel to their own slice of West Virginia. The Fortifying ATLAS community quest will have the entire “Fallout 76” player base building out the ATLAS observatory in anticipation of the Brotherhood's arrival.

The arrival will occur in two halves, Project Alpha happens on August 4 while Project Bravo takes place on August 27. Players can donate scrap to Russell Dorsey in exchange for ATLAS Donor’s Provisions drops. Those will contain other goodies and might contain some rare plans as well, says ScreenRant.

A new instanced multiplayer event called “A Colossal Problem” is included in the most recent patch. What this entails is players dropping a nuke to get inside a closed-off mine before coming face to face with a Wendigo Colossus. This boss is geared towards level 50 and higher players.

Meat Week, the event that players throw to help Grahm the super mutant have a celebratory barbecue, also returns in this patch. This year's festivities include a few new rewards, including the chance to gain plans for a brand-new Tenderizer.

The introduction of NPCs and more traditional quests have turned “Fallout 76” into a game that many hardcore fans of the franchise have come to enjoy. This has become the case despite a rough launch that often left those same fans wondering if the “Fallout” series’ days were numbered.
