We’re still two months away from Father’s Day but this anonymous dad has already gotten much recognition for his story, titled “Father of the Year,” that shot up the ranks on social news website Reddit.

When his son Sam, along with his other children, were waiting at a Walmart checkout line, there was a display of Disney’s “Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess” DVDs next to family. Like most children who want something at the store, Sam expressed his delight for “Sofia the First,” asked his dad if he’d get it for him, to which Sam’s dad explained that they have plenty of movies at the moment.

A stranger in line with them then chimed in, saying that “Sofia the First” is for girls and told Sam that he doesn’t want to grow up “like a mommy, you want to grow up to be like daddy,” which prompted the following dialogue to take place:

Sam’s dad posted his account of the story on Facebook, which was shared by Reditt user propane-accessories.

The story has brought in more than 1.1 million views and 1,000 comments as of Monday, with one Reddit user saying, “Man you should get a crown for this! Your kid is really one lucky kid! Congrats!”

In the end, Sam got his “Sofia the First” DVD after all.
