Birthday wishes are in order for fictional character Anastasia Steele! The beloved character from E.L. James’ “Fifty Shades” trilogy was born on September 10, 1989 — and to celebrate Ana’s 27th birthday, the author has released an excerpt from her new book!

James is currently working on a follow-up to “Grey,” which was released in 2015. Although the “Fifty Shades” series was originally envisioned as a trilogy, James released a fourth novel from the perspective of Christian Grey. She took to her official Facebook early Saturday morning to release an excerpt from her new book, tentatively titled “Fifty Shades Darker from Christian’s Point of View.”

“Good morning, all,” she captioned the image of the pages. “I know you’re anxiously awaiting the trailer, and that’s happening … soon. In the meantime, in honour of Ana’s birthday, there’s this.”

The excerpt is of the first two pages from the “Grey” follow up, and is dated Thursday, June 9, 2011. The original “Fifty Shades Darker” book begins with Ana’s first day at Seattle Independent Publishing. It’s been days since she ended things with Christian, and she’s completely miserable because of it — until he sends her an email on June 8 asking if she wants a ride to José’s art show in Portland. That’s where the new book picks up, with Christian anxiously waiting for Ana to leave work. You can read the excerpt below:
