Dominic Burgess’ villain role in Season 4, episode 2 of “The Flash” has been revealed.

According to TVLine, Burgess will play Kilgore, a metahuman with an interesting detailed backstory that will raise larger questions about the current season of the CW series.

Kilgore’s arrival in Central City was first mentioned by executive producer Todd Helbing during an interview with Comic Book Resources last week. While Helbing was light on details regarding the villain, he did call the character “a lot of fun.”

In the comics, Kilgore — also spelled as Kilg%re — is an electro-mechano-organic lifeform. After consuming its entire home planet to sate its hunger for electrically-powered lifeforms, Kilgore found its way on Earth. But because Kilgore was slightly out of sync with Earth’s vibrations, only those who were traveling at high speeds like the Flash could see it. However, following an encounter with Wally, Kilgore was accidentally brought in sync with the Earth’s reality. Kilgore became even more powerful as it forced its way into the power grid and attempted to take over Earth much as it had its home planet.

Although Wally eventually defeated Kilgore, the character re-appeared several times over the years. The character gained more prominence after it was revealed that he’s the reason Maxwell Lord created Justice League International. Kilgore took control of Maxwell’s mind and manipulated him into increasing its power across the planet by developing a high-tech superhero network.

Elsewhere in this week’s episode of “The Flash,” Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) go to couples therapy in an attempt to resolve their issues that arose from his six-month stint in the Speed Force.

“It’s a lot of fun in episode 2,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. “Barry and Iris keep comically clashing inadvertently because she’s used to being in charge [of the team], and he’s used to being in charge, and so they wind up going to couples therapy to work through it. The two of them with the therapist is some of the funniest stuff we have ever done on this show, but it also leads to a deepening of their relationship.”

“The Flash” Season 4, episode 2, titled “Mixed Signals,” airs on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
