Tom Felton is not coming back as a series regular for Season 4 of “The Flash.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Felton has not booked a return to the CW series but that could change, storyline- and schedule-permitting.

Felton joined “The Flash” as a series regular in Season 3. He made his debut appearance as Julian Albert in Season 3, episode 2, in which the character was introduced as Barry’s (Grant Gustin) fellow CSI for the Central City Police Department after The Flash created the Flashpoint timeline.

Later in the season, it was revealed that Felton was actually an archaeologist who made an expedition in the Indus Valley to find the Philosopher’s Stone. After retrieving the stone, he woke up in his hotel room only to find all members of his expedition dead. He then ran off to Central City while unknowingly becoming Alchemy under Savitar’s (also played by Gustin) control. As Alchemy, Julian was possessed to restore the abilities of several metahumans from the Flashpoint timeline.

After being freed from Savitar’s control, Julian joined Team Flash in protecting Central City using his scientific expertise. Julian also grew close to Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) and helped her suppress her metahuman alter ego, Killer Frost.

At the end of Season 3, Julian was still a member of Team Flash, but with Season 4 picking up six months after the events in the Season 3 finale, it appears that Julian has left the team. Julian was missing from the Season 4 trailer released during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, an event that Felton didn’t attend.

News of Felton’s departure as a series regular from “The Flash” comes a couple of days after it was announced that Neil Sandilands, Kim Engelbrecht and Danny Trejo are joining the show for Season 4. Sandilands will play next season’s big bad Clifford DeVoe, aka The Thinker. Engelbrecht will play DeVoe’s right hand, The Mechanic, and Trejo will portray Gypsy’s (Jessica Camacho) father, Breacher.

It was also confirmed earlier this month that Britne Oldford is reprising her role as metahuman Peek-a-Boo in Season 4, episode 1 of “The Flash.”

“The Flash” Season 4 will premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
