Democrat Charlie Crist praised President Joe Biden on Wednesday in Wilton Manors, Florida before calling Gov. Ron DeSantis a bully.

Crist spoke in the unofficial capital of the LGBTQ community in South Florida in a former store that had been turned into the "LGBTQ Vote Center." Nearly 100 people had been inside and greeted him with applause as he spoke about the rally held on Tuesday.

Biden had headlined a fundraising reception at a private residence in Golden Beach, Florida, and raised $1 million for Crist's campaign against DeSantis.

"I mean he was just amazing," said Crist about Biden. "And you know he's ageless. He's timeless. I mean, his energy was inspiring to me. And I tell you, we're so blessed, thank God he won. Thank God he won that election in 2020. And it's incredible how many deniers are on the ballot, election deniers. That's anti-democracy, it's mind-boggling to me."

Crist was referring to various candidates, some of them currently running elections, who had repeated former President Donald Trump's false claims of election fraud.

He went on to bring up DeSantis and said that "we have six days to get it right, six days to put Ron DeSantis out to pasture. It's important that we do that, because you know what his aspirations are." This was about DeSantis and his aspirations to be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.

DeSantis declined to confirm whether he would run for president in 2024 when pressed by Crist in a recent debate.

"He won't answer the question about his political future. He won't square with the people of Florida on whether or not he would even serve a full, four-year term," explained Crist.

Crist also cited a March event when DeSantis told high school students to take off their masks. Crist also described DeSantis as a cowardly bully who displays false machismo.

That wasn't the last moment Crist brought up how DeSantis handled the COVID pandemic in Florida.

"Don't forget, we lost 82,000 Floridians under his misguided leadership. First, he locked down everything. Then he thought, 'Oh that's not good for my base. I want to unlock everything,' and we've lost 82,000 Floridians as a result. Shame on him. Shame on him. Let's vote him out," said Crist.

Crist went on to say when asked if he would support mask or vaccine mandates in the future if he won the gubernatorial race that "I think we're beyond that now. Let's face it. So what we need to do is have a governor that's got a brain and uses it, listens to scientists."
