A Florida man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for producing and distributing images and videos of himself while sexually assaulting a minor.

Mikel Wayne Nunnally, 44, will likely spend the rest of his life in jail after U.S. District Judge Paul G. Byron sentenced him to six decades in federal prison for using a child to come up with sexual abuse images and videos. The Judge also sentenced Nunnally to a lifetime of supervised release.

Nunnally pleaded guilty to two counts of production of child pornography in April for taking several videos and images of him sexually assaulting a minor between 2018 and 2020. He shared these clips with strangers via a messaging app called Kik. Law enforcement officers were able to link Nunnally to the crime after he shared illegal materials with an undercover officer.

In one of the videos, Nunnally could be seen "touching and digitally penetrating" the victim. While talking to the undercover officer, he admitted to filming the child in a bathroom in the past and molesting the kid whenever he could, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida.

An FBI investigation was then launched. Investigators conducted a forensic review of two of Nunnally's electronic devices. On these gadgets, they found a total of 79 videos and 12 images depicting the sexual abuse of children.

"These videos and images depicted children who ranged from infants to teenagers," the U.S. Attorney's Office noted. "Some of this material depicted the sadistic abuse, bondage, and torture of the child victims."

Based on the District Attorney's statement, Nunnally mixed pain pills with sleeping pills and gave them to the minor victim before molesting them.

The FBI arrested Nunnally in December 2020. According to a report from The Orlando Sentinel, he told agents in an interview that he had been sexually abusing the child for four or five years.

The suspect's neighbor, Michelle Reed, told WFTV she saw a number of young children hanging around at Nunnally's house before he was taken into custody.

Nunnally has been ordered to register as a sex offender.
