Police in Tampa, Florida, announced Thursday they would release new video related to a suspected serial killer, who shot three people in the neighborhood of Seminole Heights in October. Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan said in a news conference they would let the public view the video sometime Thursday.

Authorities have been investigating the murders of three people who were shot to death within a mile of one another over the course of 11 days. The shootings were linked by proximity and time frame, but police have yet to find a motive. The video appeared to relate to the murder of the first victim, 22-year-old Benjamin Mitchell, who was killed Oct. 9 at a bus stop.

“The cop in me says, ‘Why are you running seconds after the murder of Benjamin Mitchell?’” Dugan said about the video. “And that’s the answer we want. It appears that they are walking toward where Benjamin Mitchell was, and then they are running away from the scene.”

The video was taken from a far distance but enhanced by authorities, so the gender and race of the person remain unclear, police said. Dugan cautioned against speculating and theories from the public once the video was released. He called the person in the video a “person of interest.” Police got the video from the neighborhood, he said, but declined to disclose further details.

Dugan called the video “encouraging” and said someone might know the person in question in the footage. He also said there are plenty of reasons why a person could be running and cautioned against jumping to conclusions based on the images.

“This guy is not going to win,” Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn told police officers Wednesday afternoon, according to WKMG-TV, a CBS affiliate in Orlando. “He’s not taking over this neighborhood. You guys go hunt him down and bring his head to me.”
