Ever since Triple H took the reins of control as head of creative, WWE has seen quite a number of big-name superstars making their return to the promotion.

WWE has welcomed back the likes of Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman, Hit Row, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, as well as Dexter Lumis, Mia Yim, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux and Bray Wyatt, just to name a few.

Most of the names on the list above were released prior due to budget cuts.

Without a doubt, members of the WWE Universe have greatly enjoyed seeing these fan favorites return to the ring, and by the looks of it, they can expect even more surprising returns.

One such name that has gathered a bit of buzz around the internet pro wrestling community is Matt Cardona, who was famously known as Zack Ryder in WWE.

Cardona began his WWE career back in 2005 as part of a tag team with real-life buddy Curt Hawkins, whose real name is Brian Myers.

He eventually developed a following of his own after taking on a new gimmick as an arrogant loudmouth from Long Island, New York.

During his time with WWE, Cardona captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship, the WWE United States Championship, and had two reigns as Raw Tag Team Champions with Hawkins.

In 2020, Cardona was one of many superstars who were released from the company due to budget cuts, as mentioned above.

As popular as Cardona was in WWE, his career in terms of wrestling accolades took off once he left the company.

Now going by his real name, Cardona made appearances on promotions such as All Elite Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), and other smaller shows.

Since parting ways with WWE, Cardona has won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the Impact Digital Media Championship and the GCW World Championship, as well as titles under Absolute Intense Wrestling, All-Star Wrestling and New York Wrestling Connection.

To say that Cardona has been successful outside of WWE is an understatement, and that's why it has been heavily rumored he's currently drawing interest from the organization for a major comeback.

Triple H has expressed interest in bringing Cardona back, and the latter admitted that would answer the retired performer-turned-executive's call.

However, Cardona bared that he isn't chasing after a WWE return per se.

Recent posts on Cardona's social media platforms appear to be teasing just exactly that.

On Tuesday, November 15, Cardona posted a series of photos chronicling his run with WWE—from his early days as an "Edge-Head" to his U.S. Title and Intercontinental Championship reigns.

Obviously, the posts have given new life to the rumors of his return.

The question now is—are these posts a precursor of things to come or simply a troll job from the former WWE superstar?
