Entertainment One has just signed Jeremy Latcham, a former Marvel Studios executive, on a first-look agreement. Latcham comes in just in time to help the studio remake the “Dungeons & Dragons” film franchise for modern audiences.

According to IGN, Latcham formerly served as SVP for Production and Development at Marvel. He will be producing the movie following the recent acquisition of eOne by Hasbro. Latcham also served as associate producer on other Marvel films such as “Iron Man” and its sequel “Iron Man 2.” He then joined the production team of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “The Avengers” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” as executive producer.

He stayed on for 13 years with the Marvel group; afterward, he went on to produce “Bad Times at the El Royale.” Nick Meyer, eOne’s president of film, praised his inclusion in the studio and said that he will definitely usher in an “exciting new era” just in time for the start of the partnership with Hasbro. He said that eOne is definitely looking forward to the amazing new projects that are to come.

Variety reported that eOne announced the partnership Wednesday, with the studio confident that Latcham will bring his Marvel-honed expertise to produce “wide-appeal” content for television and film designed for a global audience. Hasbro’s subsidiary Wizards of the Coast manages “Dungeons & Dragons.”

The film is to be written and directed by the team of Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley. It will be co-produced by eOne and Paramount. The film marks the first cooperative productions between the two outfits since Hasbro acquired eOne.

Latcham, for his part, had nothing but kind words for his new bosses at eOne. He said that he is excited to review Hasbro’s “rich library” of beloved and well-known brands. As a creative producer, he also said that he is excited to develop original material once again, and that the “storytelling” and adventures within the D&D franchise resonated well with his “passion for telling stories.”

Last month, Paramount pushed back the release of the film from November next year to May 2022, following a number of adjustments made due to the coronavirus pandemic shutdowns.
