  • Production on the “Friends” reunion special has reportedly wrapped
  • The cast used the original water fountain and set for the special, a report says
  • Matthew Perry shared a snap taken from the set of the reunion on social media

The “Friends” cast members are not the only ones coming back for the reunion special as the original water fountain and set of the show are also going to bring on nostalgia for fans, a report says.

TMZ learned from unnamed sources Sunday that the producers of the highly anticipated reunion brought back the famous water fountain that was used for the opening credits of “Friends” as well as the original set of the sitcom.

A set photo obtained by the media outlet showed the bleachers and filming equipment surrounding the water fountain. Although no one was present when the snap was taken, unnamed sources familiar with the production told TMZ that they had a live audience during the shoot.

The live audience comprised mostly union extras who were screened for COVID-19 before being allowed on the set. They were also hired for the gig, according to the insiders.

Filming for the “Friends” reunion special wrapped after just three days. And it was all shot at the original Warner Bros. Studio set of the series. Based on the leaked information, fans can expect outdoor and indoor scenes when they tune in to watch the special on HBO Max later this year.

The “Friends” reunion won’t really show Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc playing Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross and Joey, respectively, except for “one brief segment,” according to Screen Rant.

The “Friends” special will mostly have the six main cast members talk about the impact of the sitcom and its popularity through the years. They will also reminisce the best moments they had while working on the show, which ran from September 1994 to May 2004.

The cast members have been teasing the project for months before filming for it was done. Just this Saturday, Perry sent fans into a frenzy when he shared a snap of him from the set of the “Friends” reunion special on his Instagram.

“Seconds before eating a makeup brush. Not to mention reuniting with my Friends,” he captioned the snap of him getting ready behind the scenes with his mouth agape and as the makeup artist was putting some foundation on his face. He has since removed the post for unknown reasons.

Production on the “Friends” reunion special was originally planned for March 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced producers to delay it for a year. A release date has not been given yet, but it was announced previously that it will come out in the next few months.
