Xbox One backwards compatibility is coming to the “Gears of War” franchise, Microsoft and The Coalition announced on Monday. This will include “Gears of War,” “Gears of War 2,” “Gears of War 3,” and “Gears of War: Judgment,” which will be available this fall.

Late last week new details about the “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” were announced. It is a remaster of the original “Gears of War” and is heading to Xbox One in August. Anyone that plays “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” online between its launch and the end of 2015 will also gain access to every backwards compatible “Gears of War” franchise game for free.

Purchasers of the “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” will also be granted access to the “Gears of War 4” beta next year.

Microsoft acquired the rights to the “Gears of War” franchise in January, and announced backwards compatibility during E3 2015.
