Wonder Girls, SECRET, IU and other artists were among the big winners at Wednesday's first annual Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.

Held at Blue Square Hall in Seoul, the Gaon Awards also recognized stylists, choreographers, composers and other behind-the-scenes individuals.

Hosted by Taeyeon from Girls' Generation and Joo Young Hoon (a composer), the award show also handed out the International Song of the Year Award to U.S. band Maroon 5. According to K Pop Starz, the award was delivered to the group earlier this month; the band accepted the prize via a video message broadcasted during the show.

Huh Gak, Kim Bo Kyung, B1A4 and A Pink all took home prizes for Rookie Artists, while TVXQ, B2ST (BEAST), Super Junior and Girls' Generation were awarded with Album of the Year Awards (for each quarter, respectively).

Girls' Generation was also honored with an Oricon Special Award, which recognizes the highest selling album by a Korean artist on the Japanese chart.

Earlier this week, SeoHyun, YoonA and Tiffany of Girls' Generation jetted off to London for the Burberry Prosum Womenswear collection at London Fashion Week, on a special invite from Burberry chief creative officer Christopher Bailey.

The Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards have been considered by many fans and critics as the Korean equivalent to the Billboard charts in the U.S. and the Oricon charts in Japan.
