A 28-year-old woman was arrested after her daughter penned a story for school about her mother shooting at her father in their Tennessee home. Kaydra Johnson was arrested in Arlington and charged in connection with the incident.

The shooting reportedly came to light after a school counselor at Donelson Elementary read the child's story and informed the state's Department of Children's Services about potential abuse in the girl's household.

The story provided chilling details about a fight between the mother and father and how shots were fired when the girl and her siblings were inside the house, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

"Mother and father got into a fight. Mom told him to get out because he was smoking too much. Father hit mother in the eye. Mother said look what you've done," the girl wrote.

"Mother got the gun from under the bed. I was in the living room, and my sisters and brother were in the room. Mother pulled the gun on father and shot three times," the child continued. "The bullets hit the wall. Mother told him to sleep in his car in the driveway and not to come back or she will shoot him again."

When the Shelby County Sheriff's Office received the tip about the potential abuse, deputies arrived at Johnson's residence and found the mother locked out of her house.

Johnson's 1-year-old and 4-year-old children were alone inside the house until officers forced the garage door open. The kids, who were all alone in the house for an hour and a half, appeared to be fine.

As deputies searched the house, they found several bullet holes in the walls of the living room, hallway and bedroom, WREG reported.

The mother eventually admitted to shooting at her husband more than once while three of her children were on the couch and her fourth child was in the bathroom.

Johnson said she fired at him because he entered the house without permission and assaulted her.

The father punched her and hit her with a vacuum cleaner, the mother told cops.

Johnson sustained a cut and bruises around her right eye but said her husband did not suffer injuries during the incident. Officers also seized two guns from Johnson's residence.

The woman was taken into custody Monday and charged with four counts of reckless endangerment. She was eventually released from jail and is expected to make a court appearance on Feb. 23.

The children were placed in the care of family members; two are in their grandmother's custody while the other two are with their aunt.
