When the upcoming Google Pixel 4 smartphone started leaking out a few days ago, it didn’t stop. This new flagship smartphone is shaping up to be the most ambitious smartphone the search giant has ever created. Some of the exciting new features include a secure facial identification technology, a new gesture control system, a 90Hz display and more.

The Mountain View-based company historically hosts its main hardware events in the month of October. Google introduced its Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones on its October hardware event. So, based on this information, the Pixel 4 will likely launch within this month.

Luckily, after a week of speculation and rumors about the release date, the world has finally got the full confirmation on the official release date of the Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL smartphones. The official launch date will be on October 15, 2019, and the place of the venue will be in New York City.

Google has already sent out invites for the New York City event. It will also launch its next smartphone along with a bunch of new services and devices, including the smart connected device Google Nest Mini.

About the design, specs and new features
Google first released the image of the phones last summer. The images have been shared in the Google official Twitter account, confirming to the world that the early leaks were accurate. However, the first images only showed the back of the phone.

As expected by many, Google will always focus on the camera performance in their latest line of Pixel smartphones. The Pixel 4 smartphone will get two new camera sensors, a first for the Pixel smartphone lines. To create more buzz about the new device, Google decided not to offer any specifics on the cameras, but early leaks point to a 12-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel telephoto.

As mentioned earlier in the early leaks, Pixel 4 and 4 XL will be very similar-looking devices and both phones will have narrow side and bottom bezels. But, there will be no headphone jack on these phones.

Now comes the specs, the regular Pixel 4 smartphone will feature a 5.7-inch 1080p OLED, while Pixel 4 XL will get a much bigger 6.3-inches display. Both phones will get a 90Hz display, which the company calls Smooth Display.

On the processing power, both phones will boast a Snapdragon 855 processor along with 6GB of RAM and 64 to 128GB of storage. There’s also a plan for a 5G version, but the initial release will be made available only on LTE.

The smartphones will also bring an infrared dot projector, IR flood illuminator, and two IR cameras for face unlock. Google has added the Android 10 mobile operating system to supports the secure authentication method. The company also noted in the early posts that the Soli radar chip will speed up and enhance the face unlock feature.

One of the interesting additions to the Pixel 4 smartphone is the Soli Radar sensor, the gesture control technology that the tech company first introduced at last year’s Google I/O event. The Soli radar sensor will allow the phone to detect gestures, such as swipes for skipping music tracks. Google calls this exciting new feature as the “Motion Sense.”

Pixel 4 and 4 XL pricing
As for the pricing, the tech giant will officially reveal to the world the Pixel 4 and 4 XL smartphones on the company’s October event, which as mentioned earlier will take place in New York City. Pre-orders will start shortly after the official launch event. Supplies are limited at initial launch, so buyers strongly advised to order early. Delivery of the product could start a week after the official launch event.
