After giving fans the first major death of the season in Episode 3, “Game of Thrones” is looking to continue an epic race to the end as the penultimate season continues.

The third episode of the season saw a historic meeting between Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Euron (Pilou Asbæk) present Cersei (Lena Headey) with a gift as promised, and more major blows to the Targaryen effort to retake Westeros. Cersei got revenge on the captured Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) and her daughter Tyene (Rosabell Laurenti Sanders) by delivering the same fatal kiss of death to the youngest Sand Snake that Ellaria had given her own daughter, Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) back in Season 5. In addition, the plan for the Unsullied to take Casterly Rock from the Lannisters proved to be less of a success than hoped, after Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and the bulk of their army sacked Highgarden instead. Though that battle was won by the Lannisters, Olenna Tyrell (Diana Rigg) still managed to come out on top after drinking the painless poison Jaime provided her with, admitting afterwards that she was the one who poisoned Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) at his wedding.

Now, in Episode 4, as Dany receives word that yet another part of the carefully strategized plan Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) had created for her has fallen apart, it will become clear that she needs more help than previously thought, and in “The Spoils of War,” she may be spurred to take action.

“All my allies are gone. I’m losing,” she says to Jon in a preview clip for the episode.

Daenerys and Jon on "Game of Thrones"
Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) may seek Jon’s (Kit Harington) advice before making a strategic decision on Season 7, Episode 4 of “Game of Thrones.” HBO

After starting off strong, with alliances with the Tyrell, Sand and Greyjoy families, as well as her Dothraki and Unsullied soldiers, Dany seemed unstoppable when she first arrived back in Westeros. Now, after listening to Tyrion’s plan and finding it unsuccessful, she may remember the words Olenna told her before she went back to Highgarden and was killed-- “Be a dragon.”

“Enough with the clever plans,” Daenerys says.

A clip of Drogon flying overhead may hint that despite all the prior advice she received not to immediately jump into battle with her biggest weapon will be something Dany ignores now, and she will focus solely on getting a much-needed victory. Luckily for her, she may have an easy target.

Though Cersei has so far been winning this war, the Lannisters may now receive their first crucial blow. As Jaime, Bronn (Jerome Flynn) and the armies begin their march back to King’s Landing, with the Tyrell gold in tow so the crown can repay its debts to the Iron Bank, they could wind up intercepted by Daenerys, and this time around, thanks to her Dothraki tribe and Drogon, she could be the one who comes out on top.

Meanwhile, in the North, the reunion of the remaining Stark siblings will continue. Following Jon and Sansa (Sophie Turner) reclaiming Winterfell for the family, Sansa has been reunited with Bran (Isaac Hampstead-Wright), though it was an awkward one since he is now the Three-Eyed Raven, and may have scared his sister with his comments about how beautiful she looked on her wedding night, where she was raped by her then-husband, Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).

Arya on 'Game of Thrones"
Arya (Maisie Williams) returns home to Winterfell on Season 7, Episode 4 of “Game of Thrones.” HBO

Now, Arya (Maisie Williams), who decided to head back to Winterfell when she learned it was once again in her family’s control, can be seen riding North in the preview clip, with Winterfell clearly appearing in front of her. Her return, after being trained as an assassin, could also be one that will be difficult, as she and Sansa were never very close to begin with, and the horrors all three siblings have witnessed since they left Winterfell years ago have changed them greatly. Their reunion could wind up being bittersweet.

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
