Katie and Greg are going to have some workplace competition in Season 2, episode 2 of “Great News.”

According to the synopsis for next week’s episode of the NBC sitcom, Katie (Briga Heelan) tries to be executive producer for the day and soon realizes that Greg (Adam Campbell) has it much harder than she realized. Meanwhile, Carol (Andrea Martin) uses Katie and Greg’s little competition as an opportunity to push the two of them together.

At the end of the Season 2, episode 1, Katie accidentally let it slip to her mom Carol that Greg recently tried to kiss her. And because Carol doesn’t want Katie to miss out on having kids, the MMN intern will try to make Katie and Greg happen really hard through a “bunch of not subtle at all ways,” series creator Katie Wigfield said in a recent interview with Variety.

Elsewhere in the upcoming episode, Diana St. Tropez (Tina Fey) continues to overhaul MMN, and Portia (Nicole Richie) isn’t thrilled with all the changes. “Diana ends up getting in a little bit of a squad feud with Portia,” Wigfield told Entertainment Weekly. “It results in Portia making a ‘Swish Swish’/’Bad Blood’-style [music] video against this powerful businesswoman, using the people in the office.”

As previously reported, that music was composed by Fey’s real-life husband Jeff Richmond. When asked what she thinks of the song, Wigfield said that it rivals those released by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. “I was like ‘You should just be a billionaire writing songs for Katy Perry. ‘Why are you wasting time scoring our show?’” Wigfield recalled of her reaction after hearing the song for the first time.

Richmond is the composer of the classic song “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” from NBC’s “30 Rock” as well as the song “Peeno Noir” featured on Netflix’s “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” Richmond was most recently nominated for outstanding original music and lyrics at this year’s Emmys for the song “Hell No” from “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” He shared the said nomination with Fey and Sam Means.

“Great News” Season 2, episode 2, titled “Squad Feud,” airs on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. EDT on NBC.
