Previous reports said the highly anticipated Rockstar Games title “GTA 6” will become a launch title for the PlayStation 5 when the gaming behemoth becomes available in the near future. We don’t know when the console and the game releases, but we do know some of the PS5’s specs, which will give players ideas about the game.

The International Business Times previously reported that according to PS5 developer Mark Cerny, the new console will feature CPUs based on the third gen of the AMD Ryzen line, and will also sport a custom GPU based on Radeon's Navi to support ray tracing.

Ray tracing is a rendering technique used to show the effects of light as it hits certain items in a 3D environment. This rendering technique is used in Hollywood special effects.

Now, perhaps some will ask how ray tracing affects “GTA 6.” If a video demo is to be believed, then “GTA 6” will have astounding visuals on the PS5.

Breathtaking

Pascal Glicher, a well-known visual artist, created a demo video showcasing how ray tracing works. The video, which was uploaded to YouTube, showed the effects of ray tracing on some environments featured in Rockstar’s current hit, “GTA 5.” See the video below.

By watching the video, one will see just how breathtaking “GTA 6’s” visuals may be. The locations and details on every wall, ceiling and door look real. And by comparing how “GTA 5” looks like before and after ray tracing was applied, the demo video succeeded in giving a glimpse at how next-gen graphics will look like.

Some commenters on the YouTube page even noted how Glicher’s demo video avoided using puddles of water and other gimmicks, concentrating only on the sole power of ray tracing to improve graphics.

Wait

Exciting as the video may be, players might have to wait a bit more before Sony releases its next-gen console. At a recent corporate strategy presentation, Sony hinted that the next-gen gaming console won’t be released soon as the PS4 “Will remain the engine of engagement and profitability for the next three years.”

What’s more, Rockstar itself hasn’t said anything about “GTA 6” at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
