  • "Halo Infinite's" battle pass has been criticized for its drip-feeding of XP
  • The developers have acknowledged fan feedback and are planning to implement changes
  • No other specifics have been announced as of writing

It hasn’t even been one week since “Halo Infinite’s” multiplayer launched, but players are already fed up with the game’s painfully slow and stingy battle pass system.

A quick glance at Reddit’s forums and the game’s Steam page will show just how frustrated players are with 343 Industries’ implementation of the F2P model for “Halo Infinite.” Instead of using the traditional way of earning XP for the reward tracks, “Halo Infinite” drip-feeds XP to players via daily and weekly challenges that aren’t very exciting.

Players questioned the developers’ decision to go with this style of battle pass progression given how the “Master Chief Collection” went with the classic approach of rewarding XP per match. The abysmal progress has also made matches feel unrewarding, according to some players, as the extremely low amount of XP rewarded by each challenge amounts to very little progress toward the next battle pass level.

In light of this feedback, “Halo Infinite” community director Brian Jarrad said that the team is currently monitoring the game and collecting feedback so they can figure out how to approach the situation, according to Polygon’s report.

343 Industries moderator MattyMcD confirmed this on the official feedback thread regarding the “Halo Infinite” multiplayer beta.

“The team is looking at Battle Pass progression and gathering data from yesterday’s sessions and we’ll share updates as we have them,” MattyMcD said in a pinned comment.

But aside from the frustration surrounding the progression system, “Halo Infinite’s” beta has been stellar so far. Many players have praised how 343 Industries managed to preserve the classic arena-style shooter experience while also introducing new mechanics like the Grapple Shot.

Fans praised “Halo Infinite’s” big battle modes in particular due to how it highlights the most enjoyable parts of the game in a relatively stress-free environment.

It’s unclear how the developers will change the game’s progression system. Fans have been asking 343 Industries to adopt the traditional XP-per-match approach that the “Master Chief Collection” has, but so far, the developers have not yet stated any plans on how they want to approach this feedback and have not specified what changes they want to implement in the future.
