Happy comes up with a not-so-good idea to find Very Bad Santa in the Season 1 finale of “Happy!”

In a sneak peek from Season 1, episode 8 of the Syfy series, a devastated Happy (voiced by Patton Oswald) remembers the time he attended a support group for abandoned imaginary friends, and quickly realizes that Very Bad Santa’s (Joseph D. Reitman) own imaginary friend was there with him.

Meanwhile, Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni) threatens to kill Blue (Ritchie Coster) in an attempt to discover Very Bad Santa’s whereabouts. “You’re gonna tell me where he is or I’m gonna treat you like Christmas Day turkey,” Nick tells Blue as he holds him at gunpoint.

“Well, he’s a collector. I’ve known that for years,” says Blue of Very Bad Santa who kidnapped Nick’s daughter, Hailey (Bryce Lorenzo). “You probably got a lifetime of psychosexual therapy bills headed your way. That is, if Hailey survives.”

Blue’s comments make Nick more furious, causing the ex-cop to raise his gun at the mob leader once again. As Merry (Lili Mirojnick) stops Nick from pulling the trigger, Happy shows up and tells Nick that he has found a way to locate Very Bad Santa. “Nick, I got something. I think I know how to find Santa,” Happy says, before whispering that his plan involves torture.

In the trailer for the finale, Happy is seen interrogating Very Bad Santa’s imaginary friend. “Tell us where he is,” Happy menacingly asks his abductee. Apparently, Happy’s idea appears to have worked as Nick is shown hitting Very Bad Santa’s head with a concrete block at the end of the promo clip.

Elsewhere in the finale, as stated in the synopsis, Merry (Lili Mirojnick) sets out to save Amanda (Medina Senghore) from a far more powerful foe: Sonny Shine (Christopher Fitzgerald).

After finding out that all the missing kids were kidnapped during one of Sonny’s shows, Amanda personally asked Sonny last episode to use his celebrity status to bring more attention to the children’s disappearances. Much to Amanda’s disappointment, Sonny refused to help, telling her that he’s in show business to entertain kids, and not to raise them. But later in the episode, Sonny was revealed to be Mr. Bug, the very man responsible for the kids’ disappearances. Though Amanda has no idea that Sonny was the one who kidnapped Hailey, he still locked up Amanda in his office building to make sure the she wouldn’t go anywhere.

“Happy!” Season 1 finale, titled “I Am the Future,” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 10 p.m. EST on Syfy.
