A 20th anniversary special on HBO Max has been confirmed for the "Harry Potter" franchise, and alums Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as well as filmmaker Chris Columbus are all confirmed to be participating in the special.

According to a Warner Media press release, other cast members from the eight-film franchise will also join.

"Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts" will premiere "as the clock strikes midnight" on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2022. The reunion is close to the 20th anniversary of the release of the film "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone," which is also the first book in J. K. Rowling's book series which the films are based on.

Other cast members featured in the reunion special include Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, twin brothers James and Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch and Ian Hart, among others.

The retrospective will "tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new, in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time," according to the release.

According to executive producer Casey Patterson "there's magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey, through the making of these incredible films."
