Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser have decided to split after eight years of marriage.

Kartheiser filed for divorce with the Putnam County Supreme Court in New York on Aug. 10, Entertainment Tonight reported.

The ex-couple's low-key relationship was first reported in 2012 after they were seen kissing on a flight from New York to Los Angeles. A source told Us Weekly at the time that the pair had been dating each other for "a few months." The romance reportedly began after the "Gilmore Girls" alum guested in three episodes of "Mad Men" in 2011.

Bledel described her future husband as "light and funny and has lots of energy on set" in an interview with AMCTV.com in 2012. "I was really nervous. [Vincent] noticed, and made it much better for me by just sort of making sure I felt comfortable. He kind of helped me take the edge off a little bit just by being nice," she said.

Kartheiser, on the other hand, gushed about his budding romance with the actress in 2012 and called himself a "really lucky guy" for having Bledel in his life. The actor also shared how hard it was for them to make future plans due to their busy work schedules.

But in March 2013, the pair got engaged and "couldn't be happier," a source said, as per Us Weekly. "I'm a very lucky man. I keep saying 'girlfriend.' And then I'm like, 'I mean, my fiancée!'" Kartheiser said during the Hollywood premiere of "Mad Men" in March 2013.

The actor explained in 2014 that they did not date until after "Mad Men" wrapped up its filming schedule for season 5. "We were completely professional. We never saw each other out. We never — it was nothing, it was just work," he said.

In the same interview, the "Alaska" actor revealed why they keep their "magical love" away from the public eye. "If I share them with the world and I open that door to their fuming anger...it lessens it," he explained. 'It cheapens it. It weakens it. And it's magical, love, and all of that is ... profoundly spiritual, and it just doesn't feel right."

Bledel and Kartheiser tied the knot in a secret wedding in 2014. They welcomed a baby boy in 2015.
