“Hit The Floor” returned last week, after a year-and-a-half hiatus, with a new season on a new network. The now-BET series (previously VH1) kicked Season 4 off with a lot of the original cast members coming back, but there was one returning actor who wasn’t in the premiere.

Creator James LaRosa revealed in November that Jonathan McDaniel, who’s played German on the show since it first began, will be back as part of the Season 4 cast. Though he didn’t make an appearance in last week’s episode, he’ll make his return on Tuesday’s new episode.

In episode 2 of Season 4, titled “Beast Mode,” German returns to Devils Nation in a surprising way just as Derek’s (McKinley Freeman) still dealing with personal issues, according to the official logline. “The rivalry between Jamie (Kyndall Ferguson) and London (Teyana Taylor) heats up, as does the sexual tension between Jude (Brent Antonello) and Noah (Kristian Kordula),” the logline reveals. “Jelena’s dealt a major blow while someone’s else’s life goes up in flames.”

When International Business Times spoke with LaRosa earlier this month, he teased that German’s been on quite the journey over the first three seasons of “Hit The Floor,” and Season 4 for him will be all about rediscovering who he is now.

“I can say that German has always been a wildcard character, in that the first time we saw him, he was the supportive boyfriend in the face of the razzle-dazzle of Derek Roman,” LaRosa told IBT. “He lost Ahsha [Taylour Paige] to Derek and in protecting Ahsha, ended up having his life completely shattered with the Olivia [Charlotte Ross] incident.”

Thanks to Raquel (Valery M. Ortiz), who covered for him, German was able to get out of prison and try to move forward with his life. The last time fans saw him, he was just leaving the facility and talking about figuring out what he wants to do now that he has a second chance.

“That is going to be the question, ‘Who is this German that shows up?’ Because he’s seen some things,” LaRosa explained. “And I think that German will come back in a way that the audience will not be expecting, in a way that I think is fun for Jonathan McDaniel.”

Aside from McDaniel making his return to “Hit The Floor” in this episode, Terrence J will also be guest starring. And, as fans will see from the trailer (watch above), his character doesn’t get such a warm welcome. London can be seen slapping him in the episode promo, but viewers will have to wait until Tuesday night to find out exactly why.

“Hit The Floor” Season 4 airs on BET on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EDT.
