A 36-year-old man was fatally stabbed outside of Penn Station in New York City on Thanksgiving, police said.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. Thursday near West 33rd Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan, according to a statement from the New York City Police Department. The stabbing occurred just hours after people packed the area for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Police officers who responded to a report of an assault found a 36-year-old man who had been stabbed in the chest. The man appeared to have been homeless, NYPD said.

The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man's identity has not yet been released by police, who will first notify the victim's family.

No arrests have been made as of this writing. The investigation is ongoing.

Police released a surveillance photo showing two men wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing. The suspects have yet to be identified.

The victim was arguing with another homeless man around the time he was stabbed, New York Daily News reported, citing police.

A witness who was at the scene recalled the efforts of the responders to save the homeless man.

“When I saw him, he was already stabbed up,” Arturo Valentino told New York Daily News. “The officer was trying to bring him back to life, he kept pumping his chest.”

“I’m homeless, too, so for [the officer] to respond to a homeless guy like that touched me,” said Valentino. “The officer really worked his butt off to bring that boy to life.”

This is the second fatal stabbing in a week near Penn Station. On Sunday, a 32-year-old man died after he was stabbed in the neck while aboard a no. 2 train near the station. The NYPD also has yet to arrest the suspect behind the crime.

The victim was identified as Akeem Loney, a street soccer phenom who was thought to be asleep as the train pulled into 34th Street-Penn Station, according to the Daily News.

According to another homeless individual, identified only as Chris, tensions have been high among people seeking to escape the cold and shelter inside Penn Station.

“People don’t be having it these days. When are these guys gonna take it easy?” he told the Daily News.

The NYPD is asking the public for any information related to the two incidents. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the NYPD at 800-577-TIPS or directly message them via Twitter at @NYPDTips.
