A tourist died while taking photos at the Grand Canyon this week.

The unidentified male is in his late 50s and from Hong Kong. While the Eagle Point observation area he was visiting has ledges and outcroppings below, there is no barrier between tourists and the edge. CNN reports the man, who was visiting with a tour group, fell to his death Thursday while taking pictures.

"The thoughts and prayers of every Grand Canyon West employee remain with the loved ones of this individual and the members of the tour group," the tourist destination said in a statement.

This was the second death at the Grand Canyon this week. The first fatality occurred near the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. According to BBC, around a dozen people die every year at the popular attraction, and two or three die from falling over the edge.
