Annalise's (Viola Davis) flashbacks reveal a shocking truth bomb that could change the course of Season 2. Wes (Alfred Enoch) has been digging in both legal records and his psyche, trying to recall the day his mother died in the hopes that her killer may be revealed. The troubled Middleton University student got those answers and more during Season 2, episode 13 of ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder."

The episode kicks off where the previous left off, with Laurel (Karla Souza) pushing Annalise to talk to Wes, whom she's been avoiding since the shooting at the Hapstall mansion. Annalise is reluctant, but says that if Wes comes to her with specific questions, she'll provide answers. Laurel rushes to Wes' apartment to share the good news, but he's none too thrilled to learn she opened up to Annalise. She also shares with him that Phillip (Jefferson White) is on the loose and Annalise has asked that the Keating Five stay at her house for safety reasons. Wes declines Laurel's sleepover offer and she returns to the house without him.

He continues on his quest, making visits to the psych ward he spent some time in during episode 11 and opening up about his past. He struggles to remember details, which the psychiatrist suggests is due to both stress and Annalise's influence. She even goes as far as to say that Wes and Annalise's relationship is somewhat maternal, which he takes offense to. During their visit Wes has a flashback of his own. He recalls standing over his mother with a knife in hand — but could he have killed her?

As the episode goes on, viewers are treated to more and more blasts from the past, learning about Annalise and Eve's (Famke Janssen) early relationship. It is revealed that Annalise enlisted Eve's help, threatening Wes' mother with deportation in the hopes of getting her to agree to take the stand. Eve and his mom work out a deal and she is free to go. While Wes' mother agrees to appear in court, she's got ulterior motives. She is shown loading up her son and their belongings in the car, suggesting they go stay at a motel for a while. This upsets young Wes, who says he simply wants to return home to the life he's grown accustomed to. He jumps out of the car and runs off, leaving his mother frantic.

We return to the present where the Keating Five are still hiding from Phillip. Annalise has worked out a deal with the ADA, granting her immunity if she hands over her laptop, which contains the incriminating videos Phillip has been sending her and her team. The ADA agrees, but instead orders a search warrant for her home. She alerts the Keating Five, who immediately get to scheming. Connor (Jack Falahee) pretends to be working with the judge granting warrants that day, giving the police the false go-ahead. They illegally search the home and are forced to leave anything they found. The ADA then agrees to Annalise's plan and the hiding continues. Wes maintains that he is safe in his home — but that comfort doesn't last long.

Wes returns home to toss the file he was given by Annalise. As he's boxing everything up he comes across a document that names Eve as the person who signed off on his mother's potential deportation. He leaves in a hurry to track her down. Eve calls Annalise to alert her that she's just been confronted by Wes who is demanding answers. Annalise coincidentally showed up at Wes' apartment to give him said answers, but instead encounters an unwelcome visitor. She talks to who she thinks is Wes through the door for some time before entering, all the while having flashbacks about the day Wes' mom died. Her flashbacks reveal that she arrived at the apartment he and his mom shared that afternoon to warn her that her client had threatened to harm Wes. His mother grows upset and asks Annalise to take care of Wes before stabbing herself in the neck. Annalise begins to dial 911, but does not connect the call. Present-day Annalise fears Wes may have hurt himself, so she enters the apartment. She slowly walks through and is interrupted by Eve's call. During the call she shouts to her former lover to call 911, revealing that there is "someone in Wes' apartment." Who is that someone? None other than Phillip.

A scuffle ensues and the episode comes to a close. Tune in next Thursday at 10 p.m. EST on ABC to find out what Phillip's got in store for Annalise and the Keating Five.
