While there appears to be a national holiday for practically everything these days, there isn’t a holiday as delicious as national chocolate ice cream day on wednesday. This holiday season, Postmates – a popular American delivery app – has decided to get into the holiday spirit by delivering sugary goodness to New Yorker's doorsteps. Therefore, they're fully prepared to help you to celebrate the day the right way.

With National Best Friends Day's Thursday arrival, Postmates is delivering two pints of ice cream – one for the user and another for a friend – to the first 5000 New Yorkers to download the application and place their orders by Wednesday. As residents get the chance to celebrate both fun-filled holiday's in unique way (thanks to Postmates), they'll also have the option of ordering chocolate ice cream in addition to other flavors.

To claim a free pint, chocolate ice cream lovers must first download the Postmates application (visit: springboard.postmates.com/ICECREAM). Then, the user may add any two pints of ice cream to their shopping cart. The order may come from either a chain or local ice cream shop. To top it off, make sure to use the code ICECREAM in the payment section to receive a free ice cream delivery.

In an effort to investigate America's ice cream habits, Postmates teamed up with NationalToday.com to get the scoop on this important information in order to rate US cities on their chocolate ice cream practices. These habits ranged from the amount of chocolate ice cream delivered, how often it was delivered, and the preference of chocolate ice cream above other types of food. Unsurprisingly, New York City nabbed the number two slot, following behind the number one slot claimer, San Antonio.

National chocolate ice cream day is a holiday worth celebrating because the powers of chocolate in ice cream form can easily sweeten up your day, making you forget – or at least attempt to forget – about all of the troubles within the world.

Unsurprisingly, the very first form of chocolate came from Naples, Italy. It was published as a recipe in the book, "The Modern Steward," according to Four Pounds Flour. The chocolate ice cream recipe included in this book dates back to 1692.

According to NationalToday.com, "The earliest ice cream flavors were modeled after drinks so chocolate naturally came before vanilla because hot chocolate was very popular in 17th century Europe." Hopefully, Postmates will treat vanilla ice cream lovers in New York to the same sweet treat on National Vanilla Ice Cream Day on July 23.
