Meghan Markle has notably remained silent when it comes to the never-ending drama with her family members and their constant talking about her in the press. However, her decision to do nothing has reportedly created a problem with someone very important in her new family—Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Vanity Fair, as the drama began to unfold with Markle’s father, Thomas, and half-sister, Samantha, in the press, the Queen was watching, and wanted to intervene. However, Markle refused to let that happen, and the disagreements about the situation between Buckingham and Kensington Palaces caused some tension.

“She was very concerned that it [the Markle situation] was spiraling out of control, which it was,” a source told the publication. “Buckingham Palace wanted to be able to do something and be proactive and make the situation go away. It was a direction from the Queen, so her courtiers were under strict instructions to sort it out.”

“But Kensington Palace was not singing from the same hymn sheet, and that was because the message was coming from Meghan. She didn’t want to engage and thought that she could handle it on her own,” the source continued. “There was a lot of tension between courtiers within the two royal households, and I think it just got to a point where it was stalemate and, you know, neither could move.”

Since that time, of course, Markle’s family has yet to relent when it comes to their attacks in the Press, though, for the most part, there has still been no acknowledgment from the royal family. For her part, the Duchess of Sussex has not ever responded to her family and likely isn’t expected to do so.
