There are many ways that you could secure an acting role. Perhaps you could send in an audition tape or go to a casting. But for "John Wick" actor Keanu Reeves, climbing on a table and posing earned him the part of Duke Caboom in the upcoming Disney/Pixar film "Toy Story 4," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In order to find the right fit for the animated character, director Josh Cooley and producers Jonas Rivera and Mark Nielsen conducted blind audio tests. During these assessments, the casting department would play audio of line reads from various actors, all of whom were Canadian, for the group of filmmakers. During this initial step, they were unaware whose voice was behind each section.

"With the first one, we said, 'Wait, stop! Who is that?' And it was Keanu," Cooley told the outlet on Tuesday during the movie's Los Angeles premiere.

Caboom, who is said to be a "gung-ho Canadian daredevil," was a part that Reeves wanted to learn more about long before the aforementioned table climbing. Reportedly, he began deeply researching the character before he started recording and visited Pixar's Emeryville, California, campus for a meeting to learn more about the character's background.

Recalling the process, Nielsen said, "He was like, 'What is this guy about? What is he afraid of?' He really wanted to dig into the character."

The 54-year-old actor is also said to have asked other introspective questions about Duke, ones that even Cooley didn't have answers to at first, according to People.

“He would ask these really deep character questions, and you couldn’t ignore them,” the director said. "It really did force us to dig deeper into this character that we thought was more of a gag."

After initially meeting with the filmmakers, during a lunch break, the "Matrix" actor reportedly came up with the idea for Caboom's signature desire to pose in peculiar stances. It was there the actor reportedly climbed up on a table and started striking poses, which made the producers think, "That is Duke Caboom!"

On Monday, a short clip was posted to YouTube illustrating the ultimate outcome of Keanu's unconventional methods used to obtain this role.

For those who are interested in seeing the full result of Keanu's table posing, "Toy Story 4" is set to hit theaters on June 21.
