Following Prince Harry’s decision to step back from his senior position within the British royal family, he and his brother Prince William will now be dividing the proceeds of their late mother's memorial fund.

As Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stepped down from their full-time royal roles in March and no longer have a charitable organization in the U.K., the proceeds from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund will now be split between Princess Diana's two sons, People reported on Tuesday.

Although Princess Diana’s fund, which was set up in the late royal’s memory, has not held a fundraiser in years, it continues to receive donations. The organization reported having received around $27,000 in 2019.

As shared by People, the money will now be divided amongst Harry and William's "charitable efforts." As for what the 35-year-old Duke plans to do with his newfound money, Prince Harry has reportedly requested that his share from this year be donated to his HIV/AIDS charity Sentebale.

Since 2013, Diana’s memorial fund has been paid into the Royal Foundation, which will stay with Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge. The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was initially founded in 1997 following her death.

At the time, the fund received public donations and money from Elton John’s commemorative version of “Candle in the Wind,” which he performed at Princess Diana’s funeral.
