Princess Diana was very hurt after learning about Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ affair.

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a fairytale wedding, but their marriage was very different. Princess Diana said that their relationship didn’t work because “there were three of us in this marriage.”

Simone Simmons revealed in her book “Diana: The Last Word” that “after the discovery that he [Charles] had resumed his affair with Camilla, the pain she [Diana] felt was ‘like being punched in the stomach.’”

Simmons added how Princess Diana confronted the Prince of Wales about his relationship with Camilla but he was “tongue-tied.” The future king neither denied nor confirmed his relationship with Camilla. He just “refused to reply” to Princess Diana’s questions.

“It was a childish way of dealing with the situation.” Simmons continued. She added that “neither Charles nor Diana was being very grown-up about things.”

Princess Diana also confronted the Duchess of Cornwall about her relationship with Prince Charles. There was reportedly a time when the trio were present in the same party. Prince Charles and Camilla suddenly disappeared and Princess Diana looked for them.

The People’s Princess found them downstairs having a private conversation with a male friend. Princess Diana excused Camilla to have a quick word with her and the two “shot upstairs like chickens with no heads.“

Princess Diana directly asked Camilla about her relationship with Prince Charles. The Duchess of Cornwall also asked Princess Diana what she wanted when she got all men in the world falling in love with her. However, Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom told Camilla that she wanted her husband.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana eventually broke up, but according to Princess Diana’s trainer Jenni Rivett, she didn’t want to divorce Prince Charles. Princess Diana has always wanted to be a good mother and good wife. She also loved the future king and would have done everything to make things work if she was only given the choice to stay.

Queen Elizabeth II ordered Prince Charles and Princess Diana to divorce. Her Majesty couldn’t forgive Camilla for not giving the Prince and Princess of Wales the chance to mend their marriage.
